This year, the AQCC and 3rd MAQAS 2021 will be organized by The Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia (MyCAS).
The conference will be conducted virtually on 17 & 18 November 2021.
Over the past several decades, global air pollution has become more serious, particularly in urban areas due to rapid urbanization and industrialization. Air pollution has been linked to higher rates of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and respiratory diseases such as asthma.
Hence, it is vital to tackle the air quality issues. Thus, the conference emphasizes interdisciplinary research along with practices and fosters exchanges among scientists, practitioners, professionals, and young researchers who are concerned with the above aspects.
This conference covers a wide range of fundamental, applied, and technology aspects of aerosol science and air quality that are focusing on monitoring and control strategies, health impact, policy and management, big data and air pollution modeling using earth observation data, atmospheric transport, and emissions from the combustion process.
1st AQCC and 3rd MAQAS 2021 serves as a platform which provides opportunities to establish the networking among scientist, practitioners, professionals and young researchers.

Ganu Eco-Charity is a charity program organized by The Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia (MyCAS) under The Hasanah Special Grant 2020 from Yayasan Hasanah, Khazanah Nasional. This is also a partnership program with Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Terengganu, a number of local government agencies as well as various NGOs.
The program began in Dec 2020 (Besut) until August 2021 (Pulau Redang) with a total distribution of 1,500 food baskets and hygiene kits garnering a value of RM210,000 in total. These charity gifts were successfully distributed to the most affected B40 communities in the current Covid-19 pandemic within Kuala Nerus, Dungun, Besut and Hulu Terengganu District. This program extended to around 9 months due to the ongoing pandemic and huge coverage area which involved coordination of 23 Subject Matter Experts and 100 volunteers from various institutions and organizations. Media representatives from RTM, BERNAMA, Sinar Harian, UTUSAN and Unit Penerangan Darul Iman (UPDI) had been with us in several occasions.
Through this program, MyCAS, Yayasan Hasanah and all the organizations involved hopes to have at least delivered a smile to the people with every package they received. To an extent, we wish our aids were delivered on time to the needy and was able to shine a light of hope to the affected people in these trying times.

Health risk assessment (HRA) is a systematic scientific assessment tool for assessing potential adverse health risks resulting from human exposures to hazardous agents or situations in the environment This training course will introduce participants to the aims and methodology of both qualitative and quantitative HRA, its applications in research, environmental standard and guideline setting, and environmental impact assessment. Participants will get hands-on experience of using a USEPA-based HRA methodology to compute the carcinogenic and-non carcinogenic health risks from human exposures to toxic chemicals throu9h various exposure routes. Participants will be trained by experienced environmental health consultants who have conducted numerous research and consultancy assignments in HRA and HIA, both locally and internationally. Overall, the trainin9 course enhances the transparency and understanding of nsk assessment and its use in research and management tool. Certificate will be provided to the workshop participants.

The Green Heritage Walkability Sensor will require participant to have experience using latest miniature air pollutant monitor called Flow (https://plumelabs.com/en/flow/) meanwhile walking and riding trishaw on designated walkability routes and check points in Malacca City Centre.
We will do some basic measurements of air pollutants using Plume Labs Flow with the help of Plume Labs and our MYCAS Walkability team.
At the end of the session we will have an online pocket talk discussion at Holiday Inn Malacca for basic analysis and discuss the impact of the session with all participants, and Plume Labs Technician.

Land Use/Cover Changes, Environment and Emissions in South/Southeast Asia – An International Regional Science Meeting
Meeting Focus:
Several countries in South and Southeast Asia are undergoing rapid changes due to urbanization and industrial development. The population growth together with rapid economic development is causing immense pressure to convert land from forest to agriculture and from agricultural areas to residential and urban uses with significant impact on ecosystem services. Increased Land Cover/Land Use Change (LCLUC) in the region is disrupting and perturbing atmosphere, forest resources, biodiversity, regional climate, biogeochemical cycles, water resources, and other ecosystem services. The aim of this meeting is to review the availability, potential, and limitations of different data sources and methodologies for the monitoring and the study of LCLUC, and quantification and its impact on the environment. The meeting presentations will focus on synergies among various approaches and provide recommendations on how to improve the use of earth observations, ground data and modeling techniques for the improved understanding of land use sources and sinks.
The purpose of this international meeting is to provide a forum to discuss LCLUC and its impacts, with a regional focus on South and Southeast Asian countries. The meeting will be organized around the following themes:

It was reported that more than 170 researchers from 16-different countries attended the 3-day meeting. The meeting was truly international with 15- different sessions, 70-different science presentations, and 3-different panel discussions on regional science needs and priorities, all having strong science. Also, researchers from eight different regional space agencies (NASA, ISRO, JAXA, VNSC, LAPAN, GISTDA, Malaysia and Philippines) attended the meeting and presented latest updates on space activities which were highly appreciated.
The training was organized as part of WGCapD (inaugurated by CEOS chair Dr. Prakash Chauhan, ISRO) was equally successful with 85 participants from different countries. Six different international trainers covered a variety of topics; we are grateful to them for volunteering their valuable time and expertise. We received excellent feedback on the training.

Young Researcher is a program
initiatied by MyCAS to open up participation among undergraduate students.

A three-day hands-on training session for young researchers will focus on the use of remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) for land cover/land use change applications including atmospheric impact studies using SAR, MODIS, Landsat, Sentinel, and other remote sensing datasets. Malaysia Clean Air Society (MyCAS) and Taiwan Association for Aerosol Research (TAAR) are pleased to invite you to submit papers and participate in the 2019 T&T International Aerosol Conference (2019 T&T IAC) – Malaysia Air Quality Annual Seminar (MAQAS), which will be held in Malacca (UNESCO Historical City), Malaysia.
This conference program comprises of two-days event from 7 to 8 August 2019. This will be followed with two-days side events from 9 to 10 August which include Focus Group Discussion, walkability, sight-seeing tours, Young Research Program and Exhibition. This program will cover a wide range of : + fundamental and applied aspects of aerosol science and technology + atmospheric science, air quality and air pollution control.
The conference emphasizes interdisciplinary research along with practices and fosters exchanges among researchers, policy makers, corporate managers, practitioners and professionals who are concerned with the above aspects.
We invite authors to submit original papers that contain significant research results, development work, and innovative practices to 2019 T&T IAC and MAQAS.
