HOST ASIA AEROSOL CONFERENCE (AAC) 2024

Assalamualaikum WBT.

Alhamdulillah to Allah with His permission, I am thankful that we can be together in this announcement session. First and foremost, I am pleased and proud to announce that Malaysia, through the Malaysian Clean Air Forum Organization (MyCAS), has succeeded and was declared the host for the 13th Asian Aerosol Conference (AAC), which is planned to take place in 2024.

The AAC is a series of biennial conferences held by the Asian Aerosol Research Assembly (AARA) based in Taiwan. AAC has been held in Japan (1999, 2015), Korea (2001, 2017), Hong Kong (2004, 2019), India (2005), Taiwan (2007, 2022), Thailand (2009), China (2011) and Australia ( 2013). This is the first time Malaysia has been successfully selected after the bidding process, and MyCAS has met the criteria that qualify Malaysia to host the AAC 2024.

Earlier, MyCAS attended a bid presentation session virtually to the Board Members of AARA on 14 Jun 2022. The announcement of MyCAS’ success as the organiser of the 13th AAC 2024 was delivered by the AAC President, Prof Chih -Chieh Chen, at the closing ceremony of the 12th AAC conference held in Taipei Taiwan, in June this year.

As MyCAS continues to support the realisation and fulfilment of the sustainability agenda at the local and global levels, the themes and activities of the planned conference meet the agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations (UN), such as (SDG3 3): Good Health and Well -being, (SDG7): Affordable and Clean Energy, (SDG9): Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, (SDG11): Sustainable Cities and Communities and (SDG 11): Climate Action (SDG13).

The conference, scheduled to take place in Kuching, Sarawak, has received support from Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Business Event Sarawak (BESarawak). To make this conference a success, MyCAS will also work with the Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP), Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC), and Ministry of Environment & Water (KASA) and the Ministry of Transport (MOT). MyCAS, at this moment, welcomes the cooperation of Public and Private Higher Education Institutes and industries throughout Malaysia to participate in this conference.

MyCAS is very lucky that the conference scheduled to take place in Kuching, Sarawak has received full support from the Malaysian Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and Business Event Sarawak (BESarawak). To make this conference a success, MyCAS will also collaborate with Sarawak Creative and Performing Arts Industry (MTCP), Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC), Ministry of Environment & Water (KASA), and Ministry of Transport (MOT) as well as related agencies.

On behalf of MyCAS , I would like to take this opportunity to thank the AAC MyCAS bidding team that were directly or indirectly involved during the bidding process. It will be a valuable experience to be used in the future. MyCAS, at this moment, welcomes the cooperation from all parties and agencies such as government agencies Ministry of Environment and Water (KASA), Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), Academy of Science Malaysia (ASM), Public and Private Higher Education Institutes, industry, NGO’s and international agencies to participate in this conference. Together we pray that the collaboration and cooperation given by all will support MyCas to successfully organise the largest conference in Asia and the first to be held in Malaysia.

Waalaikumsalam.
